It took me over 20 renders and hours of work to get the shader to look like actual eggshell.
Once I made the eggshell shader I modeled a better egg, cracked it in half, and spent many more hours modeling and making shaders for the insides of the egg. Every thing uses SSS for translucency. Egg whites have a refraction index of 1.364

Scene modeled and rendered in Cinema 4D.

Yes this is very cool. Very nice work.
Mad :D The yolk looks a bit plasticy though. I cant exactly put my finger on what should be changed in it, but there is something not quite right with it. But hey i doubt i could even get that far ;P

Looks great. If you view full on the egg, you see that it is the same thickness all around. In my experience, eggs never break that cleanly. :-P Also, I'd work on the bump mapping on the egg shader.
The eggshell bumpmapping is fine I think. It isnt really that visible in this render because I used the brown eggshell shader and the speckles cover it up a bit. You can see the bump better in my other render [link] because there is the big specular highlight.
